Two respected heavyweights in need of a victory will clash in Canada this spring when Brendan Schaub and Ben Rothwell lock horns at UFC 145. Each man is coming off a loss in their most recent outings, adding to the importance of their bout beyond divisional standing.

The UFC recently confirmed the Schaub-Rothwell bout, adding to a March 24 event in Montreal currently scheduled to feature Travis Browne vs. Chad Griggs and Che Mills vs. Rory MacDonald.

Schaub’s last fight came in August when he was flattened by Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira at UFC 134, while Rothwell’s previous rumble involved a decision defeat to Mark Hunt. Additionally, it appears likely fans are in store for a finish as Rothwell had stopped 28 of the 31 opponents he’s beaten with Schaub putting his adversaries away in seven of eight victories.

MMATraining Take: This is a solid match-up that is winnable for either. Both have good boxing and knockout power, while I’d argue Schaub’s stand-up is a bit more polished while Rothwell is vastly superior on the ground. Definitely a hard fight to pick.
