It’s been a busy few weeks in Mixed Martial Arts. The UFC ran 2 shows in 2 weeks and we had our first live television broadcast on a major network label. Dream 4, Adrenaline MMA and EliteXC will put on shows this weekend, and the Ultimate Fighter Finale is quickly approaching next week. What trend are we seeing here? That MMA appears to moving along nicely, with more shows, more fights and ultimately more enjoyment for the people that matter most – the fans. It will be interesting to see if the large number of shows will cause fans to become ‘MMAed out’, but there’s no indication of it slowing down.

Dana White is supposed to make a huge announcement Tuesday of next week. Rumours has been running ramped about what it is. The one I found most intriguing was that the UFC is going to operate their own TV station and have their own UFC Stadium in Las Vegas. I for one, would welcome this idea. Let’s just hope Dana wasn’t banking on the New York law makers to pass a bill to sanction MMA in New York, which was passed on this week, and that was to be his ‘big’ announcement.

Fights I’m looking forward to most this weekend

Jason “Mayhem” Miller going up against BJJ master Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. If you’ve never seen Miller enter a ring and fight, try catching Dream 4 this weekend. He’s about an entertaining as you’re going to find in the sport. The same can be said for Jacare’s BJJ. It’s as good as they come. This should be entertaining.

KJ Noons vs. Yves Edwards. The hard luck Edwards was one of the top lightweights in the world a few years ago. He’s stumbled as of late and looks to capture the EliteXC lightweight title on Saturday. Look for the experienced Edwards to pull this one out, as he seems to have found his game again.

Nick Diaz vs. Muhsin Corbbrey. You have to love Diaz heart and hope he can keep his momentum going after surgically repairing some of his facial tissue.
