As much power as UFC President Dana White may have, when it comes to overseeing some of the most essential elements of putting together the promotion’s product the outspoken executive is left twiddling his thumbs. One of those issues involves drug testing, as State regulatory boards mandate the substances fighters are allowed to take and how abuse is punished.

Recently White weighed in on the topic of TRT and, surprisingly, said he would outlaw it based on the potential problems testosterone injections create within the sport.

Anderson Silva, the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world has broke every record in the UFC and is the greatest fighter ever in Mixed Martial Arts. He’s 38 years old, people don’t realize that, he’s not 28, he’s 38, and he’s not doing testosterone replacement therapy. This guy comes in 100 percent natural and he beats everybody,” said White in an interview with ESPN’s MMA Live, adding a simple “yeah” when asked if would get rid of TRT altogether if possible.

Interestingly enough, Silva fights Chael Sonnen this weekend at UFC 148 who uses TRT and was even suspended for a year based on issues stemming from the controversial treatment.

MMATraining Take: Bravo to White for speaking up on TRT! It may not change the way the matter is handled but at least it sends a clear message to his employees as far as how he feels about it.
