If Dustin Poirier wasn’t already a fan of The Walking Dead he may want to tune in this weekend when the show returns to AMC as a means of brushing up on his “zombie killing” skills considering it appears he’ll be facing one in his next fight.

According to an official announcement from the UFC, Poirier has been paired with Chan Sung Jung for a match-up this May 15 in Virginia at UFC on Fuel 3. Their fight, ripe with contendership implications, will serve as the card’s headliner.

Poirier is coming off a Submission of the Night showing against Max Holloway this past weekend at UFC 143. The win was his fifth straight and improved his overall record to 12-1. Ten of the 23-year old’s wins have involved some form of finish including those against Pablo Garza and Zach Micklewright.

Comparably, “The Korean Zombie” was last seen stopping Mark Hominick in seven seconds at UFC 140. Jung, known for his exciting style, also holds wins over Leonard Garcia and Michihiro Omigawa.

UFC on Fuel 3 will also play host to fights such as Tom Lawlor-Jason MacDonald and Donald Cerrone-Yves Edwards.

MMATraining Take: This fight is not just exciting by nature but also buzz-worthy based on being a headliner. It shows the UFC has faith in their lighter weights even when the competitors aren’t necessarily household names. Without question this bout has Fight of the Night potential and should be a “must see” scrap.
