Fans were treated to a Fight of the Night in the main event of last night’s Fuel TV event thanks to a great collective showing from welterweights Diego Sanchez and Jake Ellenberger. The two went at it for fifteen minutes with Ellenberger impressing all with his power and precision. Sanchez’s heart came through at the end, as he nearly plucked the victory out of Ellenberger’s hands, but “The Juggernaut” endured and took home the decision in front of his fellow Nebraskans.

The distinction earned each an extra $50,000.

Ivan Menjivar and Stipe Miocic also had great nights with both fighters scoring bonus money for their winning performances.

In the bantamweight division, Menjivar claimed Submission of the Night honors for his comeback victory over John Albert. Menjivar locked in a Rear-Naked Choke to earn the victory after eating some shots early.

Meanwhile, heavyweight Miocic dropped Philip De Fries with a devastating punch in the opening round. With the vicious victory Miocic picked up Knockout of the Night and kept his perfect record intact.

Like Sanchez-Ellenberger, Menjivar and Miocic were awarded $50,000 for their efforts.

MMATraining Take: No real complaints here though I think Jonathan Brookins‘ finish of Vagner Rocha might have deserved the KotN bonus.
