Well-rounded veteran Josh Neer will return to the Octagon in a few months with his fan-friendly brand of fighting, facing 36-year old grappler Mike Pyle at UFC on FX 3. Neer has finished 29 of the 33 opponents he’s beaten including a balanced mix of methods with eighteen TKOs and eleven submissions.
The match-up was confirmed by Pyle via Twitter and will join a card already featuring a main event between flyweights Demetrious Johnson and Ian McCall. While the date has been determined (June 8), no location is set in stone with the UFC running a “Hometown Throwdown” promotion allowing fans to vote on where the event should take place.
Neer is coming off a win over Duane Ludwig who he choked out cold at UFC on FX: Guillard vs. Miller. The instance of success was his sixth straight with all including some form of stoppage.
Comparably, Pyle is 22-8 with fifteen submissions though his last outing resulted in a TKO victory over Ricardo Funch. Others who have fallen prey to Pyle’s slick skills include Ricardo Almeida and Jon Fitch.

MMATraining Take: This should be a brilliant bout where both men are seasoned competitors who pose a danger to most they face. Also, if Neer wins he’s definitely in line for a step up in competition given his run and recent success.
