There are few things in combat sports more exciting than a fight between high-level heavyweights. Tonight, MMA fans were treated to FIVE thanks to the all-heavyweight lineup for the PPV portion of UFC 146!

The night was capped off by a title-defense from Junior dos Santos who put his gold up for grabs against Frank Mir and retained the belt due to success in the stand-up department. “Cigano” clocked Mir early and often, hurting the former champ in the closing seconds of the first round and then sealing the deal in the second. Dos Santos improved his record to 15-1 with wins in his last ten outings while Mir had picked up a trio of consecutive victories before the loss including finishes of Mirko Filipovic and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira.

Other intriguing bouts included former champion Cain Velasquez’s clash with newcomer Antonio Silva where he scored an opening round TKO, as well as what was a beautifully brutal opener in finishers Stefan Struve-Lavar Johnson seeing the young Dutchman come away with an early submission.
