With UFC welterweight Nick Diaz potentially facing a suspension, as well interim champ Carlos Condit and linear title-holder Georges St. Pierre essentially set for a meeting in November, the division’s contendership picture is wide open. One of the men who will likely earn a slot in an eliminator fight later this year will emerge this evening at UFC on Fuel: Ellenberger vs. Sanchez.

Set to collide in the main event, Jake Ellenberger and Diego Sanchez both entered tonight’s fight on impressive winning streaks and hada good deal of past success to back up the claim. In the end Ellenberger came away with a convincing decision win, showing more technical stand-up than Sanchez and landing some nice power shots. Though Sanchez nearly had a choke secured late in the bout and landed some nice strikes it wasn’t enough to stop “The Juggernaut” from taking home the Unanimous Decision.

Also featured on the card was a co-headlining clash between Stefan Struve and Dave Herman. Struve looked to be in top form, avoiding any significant damage while dishing out enough of his own to pick up the second round TKO.
