Two of the most talented pound-for-pound females in MMA have agreed to face off inside the Bellator cage on May 18 in the form of a bout between Japanese star Megumi Fujii and American Top Team grappler Jessica Aguilar. Both women are on impressive winning streaks seen by many as the top two 115-pounders in the sport.

Officials confirmed the Bellator 69 headliner earlier today in an official press release.

“I am completely focused on becoming the best 115-pound female fighter in the world, and this fight with Fujii is going to go a long way in proving that,” explained Aguilar of the chance to fight the 25-1 submission specialist. “I can’t fully put into words how excited I am to get into the cage with Fujii, and show everyone that I am one of the best female fighters in the sport.”

Aguilar, who is 13-4, has had her hand raised in four straight outings including two under the Bellator banner. Comparably, “Mega Megu” has tapped out nineteen of the twenty-five opponents she’s beaten with her only loss coming via Split Decision to divisional champ Zoila Gurgel.

MMATraining Take: This should be an excellent fight between two ladies whose smiles are as enchanting as their mat-based mastery. Truly, there aren’t many better match-ups that could have been made at the weight they’re competing at and you have to applaud Bellator for giving the public a platform to watch Fujii/Aguilar collide.
