Rumors of British brawler Paul Daley competing this December under the BAMMA banner were apparently unfounded though Nate Marquardt, who speculation pointed to as Daley’s opponent on the card, will still fight at the promotion’s eight event.

“Details as to why I will not be appearing on this card will remain undisclosed,” “Semtex” wrote on his personal blog. “I was most definitely looking forward to competing in front of my home town crowd, and was positive the event would have gone down in, not only Nottingham’s prestigious fighting history, but in UK MMA history as well. I still hope BAMMA 8 will be a huge success and look forward to seeing who will take on Marquardt for what I assume will the BAMMA World Welterweight title.”

One reason Daley could have been pulled from consideration for the December 10 show may have been his second consecutive instance of missing weight for a BAMMA bout.

On a final note, the powerful pugilist also mentioned he was still planning to fight twice before the end of 2011 but said at this point he was unsure where a December match-up would take place or what organization it would occur in. He is still slated to face Luigi Fioravanti in October.

MMATraining Take: Marquardt vs. Daley would be – or would have been, I should say – fun. There’s a lot of time between now and December so I suppose it’s possible a resolution could be worked out before then to make the fight happen. If not, at least Daley is fighting again. I don’t like that he constantly comes in heavy but he’s as exciting to watch in the cage as almost any of his MMA peers.
