A familiar story was told earlier today in Birmingham, England when UFC welterweight Thiago Alves clocked in at 172 pounds, coming in heavy for the third time since 2008 and nearly losing his job last year for the same reason. However, he has been given additional time to hit the required mark to make his fight at UFC 138 against Papy Abedi an official welterweight affair. If he is unable to do so he will likely be fined a percentage of his winnings and draw even more fire from his higher ups.

The rest of the UFC 138 lineup came in on target with headliners Chris Leben and Mark Munoz both coming in at 186 pounds. Fans can watch their fight unfold for free on Spike TV tomorrow night at 8:00 PM EST with live preliminary action streaming through Facebook earlier in the afternoon.
