It seems like only yesterday that Jon Jones was seen as a rising star that might or might not have what it took to hang with the light heavyweight division’s elite talent. Now, with a 2011 behind him for the record books, few can argue he is legitimately the top fighter in MMA after finding success in his latest challenge tonight against a man who was once in a similar position as him regarding both his status as a title-holder and buzz-worthy competitor – Lyoto Machida.

Jones and Machida met in the main event at UFC 140 where “Bones” took the Brazilian’s best early before dropping him in the second round, then locking in a Standing Guillotine Choke shortly thereafter and putting “The Dragon” to sleep to pick up the victory.

Also scheduled for this evening’s festivities were a pair of fights between a quartet of relative legends with Tito Ortiz taking on Antonio Rogerio Nogueira and Frank Mir mixing it up with Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. “Little Nog” was able to put Ortiz away, damaging him with body shots and eventually pounding him out for the victory, while “Minotauro” nearly came away with a win against Mir after hurting him with strikes in the opening moments of their bout only to find himself locked in a Kimura a few minutes later and having his arm broken as a result.
