UFC officials have selected the date and city for UFC on FOX 4, as it was announced on UFC Tonight that the organization will go Hollywood for an August 4 event in Los Angeles.

No fights have been confirmed for the show, and no venue was named at the time either. It is possible that the Staples Center plays host to the card.

The UFC will be returning to L.A. for the first time since UFC 104, a card seeing Lyoto Machida defend his title against Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in a very controversial decision. Cain Velasquez was also on the show’s lineup, defeating Ben Rothwell to continue his climb up the heavyweight division to an eventual championship.

UFC on FOX 4 will mark the third card of the year to be shown by FOX under the new multi-year deal worked out with the UFC. One more event is expected to be shown before 2012 is over with.

MMATraining Take: There are several possible fighters that could compete at this event, as Velasquez trains in southern California and would make a perfect fighter for the card. The rematch between Carlos Condit and Nick Diaz would generate a great number for FOX as well, so we will just have to wait and see what happens.
