The lineup for the UFC’s live debut on Fuel TV grew today with the addition of two tussles with each coming on the opposite end of the divisional spectrum. In one pairing undefeated heavyweights Stipe Miocic and Philip De Fries will duke it out, while the other features 135ers Ivan Menjivar and John Albert in action. Interestingly enough all four are unbeaten inside the Octagon as well.

Both fights were confirmed for the February 15 event through the UFC’s website.

Miocic (7-0) is coming off a win against the always-tough Joey Beltran at UFC 136 and will be looking for a second straight victory when he meets De Fries, an 8-0 Englishman who is also 1-0 in his UFC career after bringing it to Rob Broughton in November.

Meanwhile, Menjivar will call upon nearly 4X as much experience as TUF 14’s Albert in their UFC on Fuel 1 affair. The 23-8 “Pride of El Salvador” has found success in back-to-back bouts since racking up wins over larger opponents like Joe Lauzon in a variety of different promotions. Comparably, Albert is 7-1 with seven stoppages and picked up a surprise TKO victory over Dustin Pague earlier this month at the Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale.

UFC on Fuel 1 is headlined by a welterweight war between contenders Jake Ellenberger and Diego Sanchez. Other scheduled scraps include Jonathan Brookins vs. Rani Yahya and Dave Herman vs. Stefan Struve.

MMATraining Take: I like the heavyweight fight but I think Albert is being fed to the wolves, as Menjivar is a game opponent who has faced some top-level talent and should be ready for anything “Prince” has to offer.
