Phil Davis will not be welcoming Chad Griggs to the UFC‘s light heavyweight division as originally expected. Instead, Davis will be welcoming Wagner Prado into the UFC.

Prado has been signed to replace Griggs and face “Mr. Wonderful” at UFC on FOX 4 on August 4 from Los Angeles. The main event of the card features Hector Lombard going up against Brian Stann.

No immediate news was made official concerning Griggs who debuted with the UFC at heavyweight earlier this year.

MMAWeekly confrmed news of the Prado-Davis bout with Prado’s management team.

Prado is a perfect 8-0 in his career with seven victories coming by way of knockout. The Team Nogueira fighter and Muay Thai specialist has been pegged by many as a top prospect in the light heavyweight division.

Meanwhile, the 9-1 Davis suffered his first career loss to Rashad Evans earlier this year via decision. He is a former NCAA wrestling champion with UFC wins over Alexander Gustafsson and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.

MMATraining Take: This will be the classic striker vs. wrestler match, with Prado getting a very stern test in his UFC debut. Davis looked great up until the bout with Evans, and he will definitely be wanting to get back on track. Prado is a stud, and will push Davis to the test in this one.
