Urijah Faber is a typical fight fan, as the former WEC champion seems to always be around a big-time MMA event.

This past weekend, “The California Kid” attended UFC 141: Lesnar vs. Overeem in Las Vegas, Nevada, and offered up his thoughts on what went down between Brock Lesnar and Alistair Overeem.

Faber is currently set to kick-star the first season of The Ultimate Fighter on FX opposite UFC bantamweight champ Dominick Cruz. The two will meet later in 2012 for Cruz’ belt.

“Being a coach on Ultimate Fighter is going to be awesome. It’s going to be exciting,” Faber said in an interview with the UFC.

Faber has also been busy making several trips to the hospital to see how his sister is progressing following a devastating car crash late in 2011. He updated her situation, saying, “My sister is doing awesome. She had two brain surgeries, a collapsed lung, and was in a coma for six days. She is already doing phenomenal; she is walking, talking.”

Check out the video below where he also talks about Lesnar’s loss to Overeem:

MMATraining Take: Faber will become a star on TUF, as he has excellent personality, is an exciting fighter, and just seems to bring that “it” factor wherever he is. Coaching opposite of Cruz, Faber will likely come off as the much more calm and fan-friendly fighter.
