Middleweight Chael Sonnen may be prone to having a good time when it comes to promoting fights (and himself) but it appears not everyone in his audience finds his brand of humor funny. In fact, at least one target of Sonnen’s past ribs is anything but pleased with the contender’s behavior.

Wanderlei Silva, who Sonnen has poked fun at regarding his Brazilian heritage and recent knockouts, was recently asked for his thoughts on his 185-pound peer and made his feelings clear.

“I have nothing to say to him. I won’t give him that kinda audience. I don’t care about what he says, I’m not interested,” said Silva to TATAME. “If he wants to say those things looking me in the eye, come here. But that way, saying things when we’re distant, he’s an ass face. Only pussies say things at your back.”

Silva also added that if Sonnen ever did approach him like a man and insulted him “he’ll leave with a red burning ear.”

While the heat between Silva-Sonnen may be on high it’s unlikely they will fight each other anytime soon. Sonnen is facing Anderson Silva for the middleweight title in July while Silva is booked to battle Vitor Belfort a month earlier at UFC 147.

MMATraining Take: I don’t condone violence outside of the ring often but I’d be lying if I said the thought of Silva-Sonnen getting physical wasn’t enticing. I remember a video from a year or two ago of the two of them riding in the backseat of a car together and Sonnen tucked-tail when confronted. I’m pretty sure the “gangster from West Lynn” would do the same again if it came to that.
